How Do You Imagine God?
God in America and USA WEEKEND Magazine are partnering to explore Americans' images of God.

How do you imagine God? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Isaiah 55:8 " 'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the LORD." I believe that God is so mighty and wise that we could never truly grasp who he really is and how he thinks. After all, He has got the WHOLE WORLD in his hands!

My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator that Jesus died on the cross to save everyone of their sins and that if we have faith in him, we will live forever in heaven with him.
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When a little girl in Hooper Bay, Alaska very suddenly asked me, " Who is Jesus?" I told her who Jesus is and what he has done and is still doing for us. The look of hope in her eyes filled my heart with joy.
My greatest moment of doubt was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When I experienced many of important people in my lives committing suicide. It was really hard to understand why it all had happened. But God has got a plan and I have to remember that it will all work out okay
My spiritual role model is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Pat Fick. She shines God's light for all to see. She never lets that light dim and she uses all her gifts and talents to praise God in whatever she does.
The tenet/practice/teaching I appreciate most about my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator God's unconditional love. Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator That Jesus looked like what all the pictures in the Children's Bible looked like. At a grocery store with my mom one time, I saw a man with long brown hair and a beard. As he was leaving, I screamed, "By Jesus!"
I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator a Lutheran and I still am a Lutheran.

How I Practice My Faith

Where and when do you practice your faith? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Everywhere. My faith is my life and I need to live like God wants me to every second of the day. Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It is easy, but I make it difficult. I should be talking and praying to God every second of the day but instead I focus on the worldly things which do not matter. I need to walk with God consistently in my life but I make it difficult to do.
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My parents. They have raised me up to believe that Christ is my Savior and my life. My parents have encouraged me everyday to be strong in my faith.
The song/book/film that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator You Are More by Tenth Avenue North "Cause this is not about what you've done, But what's been done for you. This is not about where you've been, But where your brokenness brings you to This is not about what you feel, But what He felt to forgive you, And what He felt to make you loved. You are more than the choices that you've made, You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create, You've been remade."

Religion & the Public Square

Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Definitely. Religion is everywhere and everyone needs to be aware of what is going on in the world. These books are a part of history.
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Yes I do feel comfortable because fear does not come from the Lord but strength does. I desire for more people to see their own name written in the book of Life when judgment day arrives.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Yes, I believe it is our duty to put our beliefs into action. Doing good works does not get us into heaven our faith does and doing good works is not a way of boasting if you are doing it for the Lord. I believe that one of the main problems is that people are so selfish and only do things for the betterment of themselves. We, as Christians, have a duty to do all things through him, by him and for him.
