I would rather live my life believing in God then living a life without Him and die only to find out there is a God.

How Do You Imagine God?
God in America and USA WEEKEND Magazine are partnering to explore Americans' images of God.

How do you imagine God? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I imagine God as a benevolent being who had a plan for me when He created the world. Nothing in my life is unplanned for by our Lord. The trials in my life bring me closer to Him, and the blessings (my family, my job, my life) are gifts from Him.

My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The Ten Commandments are not suggestions. They are rules by which you should lead your life. If I make an effort to live by these rules, I will have eternal happiness with our Lord in Heaven.
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When I was divorced, I thought my life was over. Through much prayer, I found real, true friendship, real love and respect, and that if you put your trust in the Lord, he will care for you.
My greatest moment of doubt was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When my beloved father died. I was bereft. After 22 years, I can look at photos of him, recall the joy and fun and happiness he brought into my life instead of the sadness that I feel that he is no longer with me.
My spiritual life means... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Staying close to the Lord. Becoming aware of my shortcomings and asking for strength to deal with and overcome those problems.
The biggest misconception about my faith/belief system is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I am Roman Catholic. I think too many people think that Catholics make you follow the rules every day. No - we try to follow the rules, but know that we will fail. God will never give up on you. He has more love for you than you will every know. All you have to do is ask.
My spiritual role model is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Our Blessed Lady. She is a woman who said Yes to God. Knowing full well the problems she would face. She bore a son, experienced all the problems with raising children that I had, then, lost that precious child to His death on the cross.
The tenet/practice/teaching I appreciate most about my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator In a word - forgiveness.

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator God was fire and brimstone. You step one toe over the line, and you were going to be sent to Hell without any possibility of forgiveness.
My spiritual journey has been ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator One of constant growth and change. I spent the summer of 2010 with the most magnificant group of women talking about the Bible teaching, and the plan Our Lord has for women through the Women of Grace, and then attended a retreat with Fr. Richard McAlear. there my husband and I experienced a tremendous sense of spritual healing.
I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator A Roman Catholic
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My beliefs are much more flexible than my parents. I feel God has created us all in him imagine, and that I should be accepting of all His creations. "Judge not and thou shalt not be judged", when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was naked you clothed me....."
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I always went to church. But, when my children were born, I think I understood more of my mission in life with regard to my faith.

How I Practice My Faith

Where and when do you practice your faith? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I practice my faith everyday through prayer and spiritual readings. I try to be nonjudgemental of people and reign in anger that may be the result of unrelated issues going on in my life.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator We are only one religion.
How easy or difficult is it to live your faith? Why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator As I grow older, currently I am 62, my faith is easier to live because I am less challenged by outside forces. I have a good career, a home, a loving husband, and healthy, happy, children and grandchildren
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The inclusion of prayer in many facets of our day.
The song/book/film that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator The movie - the Passion of the Christ.

Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I do not think politicians should favor one or the other religion. If they have inside information regarding a particular religion that may harm our nation, they have to make decisions based on that information.
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Religion should be taught in school. But, as a general overview, not as this is right or that religion is wrong, but basic tenants should be known by everyone.
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator From what I know, students should be aware of what these books say, but they basically all say the same thing - love one another.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Most definately. There was a time in this country when the Catholics did not associate with Protestants or Jews and visa versa. It was discrimination. If you truly belive in fatih, you have to believe that everyone was created by God. Some people just take a different path toward the same end.
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I do feel comfortable. My faith has been very important and positive to me. I would hope that someone who is facing a troubling situation would consider a conversation with a supreme being to help them solve their issues.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I proudly observe religious holidays, and display religious symbols. I encourge others that may be struggling with faith based issues to pray for the courage to take a stand in how they feels.
Are religious beliefs compromised by engaging in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No - definately not. If a politician or a political practice is in opposition to your faith, you are, as an American obligated to take a stand against that issue.
Has 9/11 had any impact on your thoughts about religion? Are you more/less interested in learning about other religions? Do you feel more/less comfortable expressing your religious beliefs? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I think 9/11 was a wake up call from God to let Americans know they need to get on the religious band wagon, and not be apathetic about where we stand. The 9/11 terrorists were so dedicated, they gave their lives. I do not know of any religious zealots in the US who have done that lately.
