My Beliefs

I believe ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator There is no God(s).
My most powerful moment of belief was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When I realized I didn't believe.
My greatest moment of doubt was ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator When I questioned religion.
The biggest misconception about my faith/belief system is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator We are somehow satanic. If we don't believe in God and God made the devil this isn't possible. Another personal favorite is that without religion there can't be morality. Morality is self-evident. You know it's wrong to steal because if someone steals from you it makes you upset. A normally functioning person isn't malicious enough to want someone else to feel that way.
My spiritual role model is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Myself. I treat people the way I would like to be treated.

My Faith History

As a child I believed ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator In religion until I was old enough to question it. And more importantly, allowed to question it.
My spiritual journey has been ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Met with bigotry and intolerance.
I was raised as ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator As a Christian reformed and Lutheran. I over came that when I learned about skepticism.
Are your beliefs or practices different from your parents? If so, how and why? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator My mother believes in God but not churches or religion. My dad is an Atheist and my Sister is more agnostic. The rest of the extended family is very religious, even have a faith healer. Whom I consider a crackpot.
If you have children, did becoming a parent change your relationship to faith? If so, how? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator It scares me that they will become piously intolerant. I.E. Become very religeous and not want anything to do with there "hell bound, heretical" father.

How I Practice My Faith

Where and when do you practice your faith? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Every day.
Does your family practice more than one religion or faith? If so, how do you blend the traditions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator We don't deal with it. I was disowned by my grandparents, so the hell with them.
In my house, the thing that most represents my faith is ... your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator ceaseless questioning.

Religion & the Public Square

What should be the role of religion in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator There should be no religious representation in politics.
Should courses about religion be taught in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No, public schools are run by the government. The government can not endorse any religion. It was set up to be religiously neutral or secular.
Should the Bible, Torah, Quran or other religious texts be taught as works of literature in public schools? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No, there are plenty of other great literary works to learn from with out the religious views.
Is interfaith dialogue important? Why or why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator If it keeps them from killing each other sure.
Do you feel comfortable discussing your faith with others? Why/why not? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Yes I do. If someone doesn't like me over that than I don't want them around me.
Do you feel that you have a duty, because of your faith, to put your beliefs into action? What are some of those actions? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator I don't have the right to convert anyone. I think it's wrong to do that. The only action I feel is needed is to keep the government secular.
Are religious beliefs compromised by engaging in politics? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator No, vice versa.
Has 9/11 had any impact on your thoughts about religion? Are you more/less interested in learning about other religions? Do you feel more/less comfortable expressing your religious beliefs? your photo/ link/ video has been held for approval by a moderator Well I've heard it said that "science flies you to the moon, religion flies you into a building". I think that pretty much sums it up.
