The Camellia Symphony Orchestra's Continental Harmony piece, Picture of Years (Nianhua), by composer Han Yong, pays tribute to the music, traditions, philosophies, and culture brought to California by Chinese railroad workers who built the transcontinental railroad in the 19th century. This work, performed by renowned Chinese musicians, includes native Chinese instruments (dizi, erhu, and zheng) originally brought to the United States by immigrants.
