Miami has been attracting people from diverse backgrounds for decades, most recently, emigrés from the Caribbean. To celebrate this cultural richness in music, Lukas Ligeti's work, Migrant's Journal, was performed as part of the annual Subtropics New Music Festival by an ensemble of local musicians of multiple Afro-Caribbean backgrounds. The experimental work includes traditional idioms and spoken word in a computer-managed improvisational format.
