In the spring of 1997, communities along the Red River were devastated by one of the worst floods in the region's history. Rebuilding is long and difficult but has been approached with courage and community spirit. As a contribution to the re-growth process, the Grand Forks Master Chorale commissioned and premiered Steve Heitzeg's What the River Says: Three River Songs, which expresses the community's complicated attitudes toward the river.
