The history of the Edmond area was recreated in a one-act opera, a joint undertaking of the University of Central Oklahoma Opera Division and the Edmond Historical Society. Composer Samuel Magrill's Showdown on Two Street evoked this history, one rich in real-life events from which much of the lore surrounding the settling of the West was fashioned. The overture to the opera has been adopted as Edmond's official march.
