Kim Eung Hwa Korean Dance Academy

Kim Eung Hwa Korean Dance Academy

The academy strives to preserve the art of Korean traditional dance and music and actively engages in the promotion of cultural awareness and exchange through performances in non-native venues.

The academy has performed at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, Hollywood Bowl, Pacific Asia Museum, Dodger Stadium, the Rose Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Munye Hoekwan Theatre in Seoul, Korea. In addition to performing in cities throughout the United States, the academy has performed in Brazil, Mexico and Korea.

Ms. Eung Hwa Kim founded the Academy in 1980 and serves as the Executive Director for the Los Angeles Performing Arts School. For the past 20 years, she has been teaching Korean traditional dance, and producing and choreographing major performances in Los Angeles and abroad. Ms. Kim is a disciple of Korean National Treasure No. 27, Ms. Han Young Sook, and has a B.A. in Korean Traditional Dance from Joong-Ang University, Seoul, Korea.

The Academy is under the umbrella of the Los Angeles Performing Arts School, a non-profit institution committed to community enrichment by providing comprehensive training in the performing arts to people of all ages, gender and ethnicity in underprivileged communities of Los Angeles County.
