Hometime
Video Publishing Inc. was founded in 1984 by Dean Johnson to provide
do-it-yourselfers with a new source of how-to information. Johnsons
plan was to produce a series of videotapes for distribution through
hardware stores and home centers. The concept was soon expanded
to include the television series, which premiered on public television
November 1, 1986.

Programming
Kicking off the twentieth season is an owner's suite renovation at the home of former Hometime cohost JoAnne Liebeler (1987-1991). Dean and JoAnne have an opportunity to reminisce about former projects and discuss the dramatic changes in home improvement over the past twenty years. Other projects this season include a unique grass-and-paver patio, a simple kitchen remodel that turns out to involve major re-engineering, and a return to the childhood house of author Maud Hart Lovelace for more restoration work (the "Betsy-Tacy" home).
