Dean Johnson and Robin Hartl feature one family's efforts to preserve and restore a lakeside summer home with a wonderful wraparound porch built in 1887. What makes the home unique is it's now one of the last remaining summer homes on the lake, it's remained in the same family since it was built, it's never been updated for winter use and very little has changed on the inside. It was added to the Register of Historic Sites in 1997. Unfortunately, erosion and rot threatened to topple the house, and the family realized something had to be done. This 3-part series documents the work to rework the foundation, rebuild the wraparound porch and preserve the home for another 100 years—without compromising its original character.
