- The Amasong Chorus functioned both as a performance outlet and a support network for its members. One member refers to it as her “church.” Do you think that belonging to a group is important? Why or why not?
- Kristina Boerger explains why she named Amasong a “lesbian/feminist chorus” by clarifying the difference between lesbian-feminist with a hyphen and lesbian/fesminist with a slash: “It means you've got to be one or the other.” Why do you think it was important for the chorus to define itself within the community? Would it have been easier to be “undefined”?
- The traditionally conservative community of Champaign, Illinois was hesitant at first about the Amasong Chorus, but was eventually won over. In what ways do you think that music and art can transcend politics—as well as incorporate them?
