Here are some questions to spark the discussion.

  • Filmmaker Paul Fierlinger and his dog Spinnaker have a special form of communication that goes beyond words or actions. In the book, Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home, Dr. Rupert Sheldrake claims that "morphic fields" exist between humans and dogs and that these fields act "as a channel for telepathic communication." What do you think about the unusual nature in which man and dog connect?

  • In the United States, the subject of "dangerous dogs" and what to do about them has brought about much debate. Many believe that the owners of dogs trained to be aggressive are the ones who are responsible. Others feel that specific breeds of dogs have genetic propensities to be "fighting" animals, and that those breeds should be banned. What are you thoughts?

  • Paul's drawing and storytelling style do not fit the mold of most commercial animation. He believes that "if the waves upon waves of Disney-esque films flooding the minds of huge audiences since the early '30s have caused the anthropomorphizing of animals, these films have caused an equal amount of damage to the public's perception of the arts - namely the art of animation." Do you agree?
