This is perfect television - simply the most beautiful and moving program I've ever seen. It casts a spell and I'll never forget a moment or a nuance of that hour.

HEART OF THE SEA is absolutely captivating. The exquisite cinematography, Rell Sunn's warmth and charisma and the beautiful way in which her story was crafted by the filmmakers carried me through the hour as if on a wave. This film presented me with a role model -- a woman who did not, would not let fear of losing her life overtake her passion for living it every day. Thank you for introducing us to a woman who is not only a Hawaiian legend, but a universal inspiration for all of us.

Play it again!!! Play it again!!! Thank you for that beautiful program about Rell Sunn. I lived in Hawaii for 6 years. I surfed at Makaha. I never got to meet Rell, but she is my idol…. Now I am fighting and being treated for Hepititis C myself. Seeing Rell's story has inspired me to get back into the water, even though this treatment is kicking my butt. Mahalo and Aloha,

Dear producers and other respected sirs who took part in making this movie happen, I am a student at Centerville Junior High. Our English teacher, Mr. Jamie Richards, showed us the documentary about Rell Sunn. At first, I wasn't interested, but I soon learned how wonderful a person "Aunty Rell" is. I was deeply touched at her courage and confidence. What most shocked me most is that how could a person be so happy and encouraging when she is going through one of the most dangerous diseases in the world. I personally think : RELL SUN IS A PERSON WITH NO FEAR. THE PEOPLE WHO GO ON [the TV show] “FEAR FACTOR” ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO HER. Now after seeing the movie, I wish I could have met with her. She is truly the "Heart of the Sea", and the "Queen of Makaha." I hope people can be just like her and make this world a better place to live in!

I literally just finished watching your film and I'm speechless. The mother of a close friend and mentor of mine just passed away this last weekend from cancer and before watching your film, I felt really helpless. I couldn't relate to my friend at all or understand what she was going through, let alone empathize with her mother. After seeing how Rell affected the lives of so many and how they all dealt with the cancer, I've begun to understand how I can help my friend. Thank you so much for this film!

I was extremely moved by the story of Rell Sunn. Two years ago, at age 39, I was diagnosed with breast cancer . . . I have just begun to live again and am enjoying the gift of life each day. Rell's life is a beautiful example of tremendous courage; she is an inspiration and wonderful role model for all women. Thank you so very much for making this film!
