Did you catch Reel Injun: On the Trail of the Hollywood Indian last night? Or maybe your local PBS station hasn’t aired it yet (you can check here).
Either way, we thought you might like this extra morsel that didn’t make it into the broadcast version of the film. Director Neil Diamond went to a classroom of native kids and showed them scenes from Little Big Man, including graphic scenes of an Indian massacre.
Have a look and then tell us: Is it important to educate kids on their history, even if it might be emotionally traumatic for them? Would you object to a class of mostly African American kids watching documentary footage of dogs and water cannons unleashed on black schoolchildren in 1960s Alabama? Anyway, watch and tell us what you think.
