Kromah is the owner and manager of two FM radio stations in Sierra Leone: Radio Skye in Freetown and Radio Kiss in Bo. In DEMOCRACY ON DEADLINE he covered the first democratic election with fellow reporter Hannah Foullah, demonstrating the power of cell phones and ingenuity as well as commitment in the face of suppression and danger.
Kromah continues to run Radio KISS and Radio Skye. He has also formed the Media Foundation for Peace and Development, of which he is director. In 2002 he was awarded the Knight International Press Fellowship award, and in 2004 the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association’s Elizabeth R. Award for his exceptional contributions to public service broadcasting. In 2006, as the rainy season gained full force, winds tore the roof off his station and home in Freetown, badly damaging the facility.
