Skaggs reports: Alexei Venediktov struggles against Russia’s increasingly restrictive media policies, as President Putin takes more and more control of information. Venediktov recalls that when an independent press was born in Russia after the Soviet Union fell in 1991, Ekho Moskvy was the first non-government radio station created—now it struggles against both the Kremlin and the KGB, and their declarations that any information be kept confidential.
