TalkbackHow do you participate in your democracy? Do you feel represented?Tell us what you think >> Submissions will be posted here regularly, so visit again to read more. I am trying to state that I could not support Sarah Palin as a vice presidential candidate knowing that she might someday be president. If folks haven't carved their Halloween pumpkin yet, get people to vote by carving your pumpkins to get out the vote on Nov. 4th. A friend of mine did this in Ohio with his pumpkin, and the idea is so simple and appealing for us "get out the voters" to help "light" up our neighborhoods. Check out http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/carve-your-pumpkins-to-get-out-the-vote-on-nov-4 for free patterns, slogans, and some other links. If people want to make a party out of it, they can invite their friends for a pumpkin carving get out the vote party this weekend. Similarly, there's a Trick or Vote movement where people dress up in Halloween costumes to get their neighbors to vote. I love it. It's at www.trickorvote.org/ Last, there's a petition to make Election Day a National Holiday to help people step up and vote at: It takes just a minute to sign it. I did. You can register anonymously too if privacy is an issue. Thanks so much. People !!! Why you are waiting to hear nice words from your candidates ??? None will fight for your rights, you know that !!! Is all just a scam only to make you voting them and after, they forget everything what they promised you! Its easy to speak but hard to DO IT !!! Its a game between few rich people from the entire world! They are playing with your money on the market and is an financial war !! Its all now at the financial level and not with weapons anymore. Usa had to put down on the market a lots of money, right? Well, they have done this, no matter what !!! Its all about you people??? for making a better life for you??? Come on !!! They took your money bc they needed it !!! Wake up and don't belive anything what they are telling you.Which one from your candidates MADE something to prove you that has good intentions for you??? Words , words, words .. nothing done !!! I write my representatives about the issues that concern me and the community I live in. I've also scheduled visits with their aids to discuss my concerns in person. I think it's so important to let your elected officials know that their constituents do hold them accountable to doing what's right for those they serve. I raise money for one of the presidential candidates. This might seem like a small thing, especially when you consider that my contributors average about $50 per gift. But the cool thing about democracy is that our voices are all equal in the end, whether you contribute money or not. Moreover, a candidate's fundraising success depends on how many people contribute, and not how much. |
