Organize an Event

Are you a community organizer, educator or facilitator? Weíve got opportunities for you to get involved by using Independent Lens programs and resources in your community.

ITVS Community activities include screenings, discussions, panels, workshops, conference presentations, forums and more. ITVS, the co-presenter of Independent Lens, works with public television stations, leading community organizations and committed individuals around the country to bring people together and connect them with information, resources and opportunities to create positive change.

Interested in planning an event in your community? Follow the steps below.

  1. Download the ITVS Community Cinema Program Toolkit (PDF, 552K) for a step-by-step guide to organizing a free community screening event for one of our upcoming shows.

  2. Review the current slate of films available for community outreach activities for Community Cinema, the Vote Democracy Campaign and Classroom, and select the titles that you are interested in working with.

  3. Download the Event Materials Form (DOC, 200K) to request a DVD and resources for the film(s) you are interested in organizing an event around.

  4. Submit the Event Materials Form as an attachment to outreach@itvs.org.

  5. Submit an Evaluation Form (DOC, 48K) within 48 hours after your screening event.

Requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. You will be notified within two weeks if your request has been approved.
