Bring the Noise
Public Enemy
Long Island, NY

Never badder than bad 'cause the brother is madder than mad
At the fact that's corrupt as a senator
Soul on a roll, but you treat it like soap on a rope
'Cause the beats in the lines are so dope
Listen for lessons I'm saying inside music that the critics are
blasting me for
They'll never care for the brothers and sisters now across the
country has us up for the war

We got to demonstrate, come on now, they're gonna have to wait
'Till we get it right
Radio stations I question their blackness
They call themselves black, but we'll see if they play this

I can appreciate any music that stands for something. Whether or not I agree with it comes secondary. Music that puts dowm women or glorifies violence and drugs for the sake of entertainment is such a waste of our most powerful resource: our voice.

Awwww man! I miss the days when I heard rhymes like this on a regular basis!! Chuck spit this rhyme (and others) with such conviction and authority, you KNOW he was really feelin' what he was saying and wasn't driven by "the almighty dollar" to make this joint.... I miss those days. These lyrics made me think, even when the song went off, I can't say that about too recent songs.

Arthur, Just Think!

This song speaks a lot of social commentary in these few lines. It tells me how the record industry claims to be black and is selling blackness, but that its being run other than ³black² people. It comments on the value of human life as we enter war, and that it may not be valued enough. These guys use their music to raise awareness.
