ASYLUM

Wit legalized poison killin us softly
Illegal drugs are makin us off beat
Floodin our streets, providin a way to eat
If they are legal, then we all can compete
N nobody’s a refugee, in a society
That doesn’t want to be, but is so street
As we complete the circle
The cops are robbers n the government
Can’t seem to solve shit
The war on drugs is counterfeit
Why not legislate, have a magistrate administrate
A legal product, tax it n not incarcerate
Rehabilitate the populace, we already participate
At home we need asylum, from racism n political decisions
That sends our folks to prison
As crime n punishment, incarceration n abandonment
In a climate of political unrest
It’s a test against moral judgment
About consumer able content, considerable since
Lackin an education, moral persuasion
Governmental collusion bout drugs n ruination
The life we are faced wit, a lack of jobs n opportunity
Lies that bring disillusionment, confusion bout the American Dream
N schemes to get cream
Green is the color of Money, Red is the color of blood
What is the color of Love, Intellect n Respect
Loyalty is a rope around ya neck
From trickle down effect, to the drugs we get
It’s a safe bet that the illegality
Is what gets ya wet, on the black market
Blacks are the target, obtained, contained
Gettin here by ships, planes, trains n boats
To keep the wolves from our throats
What else are you gonna do to promote prosperity
Than to sell drugs, we don’t swing from ropes
But there’s still a knife at my throat n
It aint gon be, its all she wrote
As hope floats, success gropes, as Life chokes
On the smoke of tobacco n drowns in alcohol
As it steals ya Soul like the border patrol
Task forces, DEA n all the alphabet sources
Choices n strident voices talkin bout the losses n
What it costs us, the war on drugs
Who really are the thugs, behind the scenes
In Brooks Brothers suits, CEO’s that recruits
Pollutes, institutes the policy’s, wit no apologies
It’s just the way of society, preachin sobriety
While ya create the need, new junkies are
Persuaded, created, paraded wit everybody doin their duty
Bein the judge n jury, on a collision course wit malfeasance
Settin the precedence when we forget that drugs aint legal yet
But our citizens are drownin in it
No Conscience bout maintainin a black market
Targetin any n everybody
Let’s bring our folks home n give them political asylum
Instead of warehousin em, let’s solve this problem.
