If you could have ya cake n eat it too What would ya do Would you be a fool, jump in the pool Knowin ya can’t swim or be cool Get an education, be enlightened or Just take classes in Life school Where emotions rule n bulls do what Most animals do, wreck havoc on ya environment Ya social mores, cause ya outta ya element Sufferin from arrested development What would, are ya gonna do Met Life can’t save you That’s insurance for ya pit n pratfalls When life calls n ya ball n fall Give it ya all n ya come up short What’s the point in sport if ya can’t Make a mistake, if ya can’t recreate Why eat cake if its gonna give u a bellyache If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride Its not that you’ve been lied to No 1 confides in you, abides wit what ya do If ya are allergic to knowledge, then it hides from you If is such a small word wit a big meanin A conjunction wit world shakin functions Altercations almost like an ultimatum An exclamatory proposition, a possibility Like malnutrition if ya don’t eat proper A stipulation, a supposition like If and or but, like what’s up In the event of, that, if I was to go, what would I do If she loved me, she’d be true If I was a giant instead of a midget If I had money, would life be sunny Or would the rains, pains, strains n stains Still drain, arrange, change, in ya mindset If you was waterproof, ya wouldn’t get wet What if the world is an ugly place Cause we fill up all the spaces wit hatred Death, dismemberment n disfigurement Because we can’t face it Life is a gift, get lifted, spirits can drift N the dead don’t really need or want it If ya could come back, have to suffer Have Love forever, would ya bother to harbor Any misgivins, if livin was easy But ya had to be greasy, would ya be queasy If it freed ya, what if there was an easy button Would ya turn the other cheek, be careful when ya speak I would if I could, but I can’t The if in life is what puts ya in the paint Is it important, as a sinna or a saint If only Life was that appeasin.
