Behind-the-Scenes

Imelda, dressed in a green jacket and lose black pants, walks along a railing as the filmmakers stand behind her, filming with a large camera. “When I met Mrs. Marcos, it was surreal,” writes filmmaker Ramona Diaz. “ I can almost compare it to meeting a figment of my childhood imagination. Before the interview, I was told that it was to last no more than 15 minutes and I was not to ask her about the events of 1986. Five hours later, we were still at her apartment suite high above Manila and she had told me about ‘that fateful night in 1986.’”

Sneak behind the scenes and get the inside scoop on IMELDA. Read Director/Producer Ramona Diaz’s filmmaker’s statement to learn more about the making of the film. Peruse the filmmaker Q&A to find out why Imelda Marcos wanted to ban the film’s release. View the filmmakers’ bios and film credits for a list of the people involved.
