Talkback

Submit your thoughts on IMELDA.

We invite you to respond to the questions below or add your comments. Selected submissions will be posted on our Talkback page, so check back regularly and join the discussion.
  • Filmmaker Ramona Diaz wanted to make a film “that went beyond the number of pairs of shoes Mrs. Marcos owned.” Did watching IMELDA change your perception of Imelda Marcos? If so, how?

  • Imelda Marcos remains a controversial and contradictory figure, charged with numerous violations regarding fraud, corruption and human rights. Do you think that such a reviled public figure can also be sympathetic? Why or why not?

  • When IMELDA, the documentary, was first released, Marcos attempted to ban it from being shown in the Philippines, even seeking a temporary court order against the film. Do you think that film “speaks for itself,” or can willing documentary subjects be victims of slander?
