- Milt Hinton was dedicated to helping young musicians carry on the jazz tradition. Hinton first met filmmaker David Berger when Berger was 15, beginning a 45-year friendship. Have you had a close friend or mentor that has influenced your life? Do you think carrying on tradition is important?
- As the filmmakers of KEEPING TIME explain, Milt Hinton “not only made a record of his own life and the world that surrounded him, but also made every possible effort to pass on what he had learned to succeeding generations.” Why do you think he was motivated to document history? Do you think it’s important to document your personal history?
- Hinton said: “When we go on the stage, we should be thinking about how we can support each other.” How did Hinton support others both on and off the stage?
