- Filmmaker Anayansi Prado believes, “the media gives immigration a negative spin, when the reality is that if all nannies and housekeepers in L.A. were to call in sick, the entire city of Los Angeles would be paralyzed.” Do you agree or disagree with the media’s depiction of Latin American immigration? Why or why not?
- Domestics entrusted to look after children have been some of the most poorly paid and disenfranchised women in society. Many have left their own families behind in search of a better life for them later. Do you think it’s worth the sacrifice these women make in search of their American dreams? Why or why not?
- Most domésticas have no health insurance, no driver’s license, no pension and no recourse when it comes to employment injustices. Do you think these organizations can meet their goals in a society that views Latino immigrant laborers in a negative light?
