The Guru
In Hollywood's most blatant nod to Bollywood, The Guru stars blond bombshell Heather Graham alongside half-Hindi Brit, Jimi Mistry. The Bollywood ingredients are in full force, most importantly the song and dance spectacles, but the film also adds a distinctly American twist with a plot involving a porn star and sex therapist.

Many American critics were scratching their heads at The Guru's schmaltzy, cliché-ridden plot and kooky Bollywood meets Hollywood gestures. But those with a masala sensibility found it gleefully comic and heartwarming. And in true Bollywood fashion, the film may have been slammed by critics, but it still found an audience in the masses.
