Kaante
In the Bollywood tradition of reimagining familiar films, Sanjay Gupta's Kaante takes a heaping helping of Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and a dash of Bryan Singer's The Usual Suspects and turns them into a delirious musical heist caper. What's significant about Kaante, aside from its conspicuous lack of romance, is its distinction as the first masala film to be shot entirely in the U.S. with an American crew and intended for international release.

The film stars 60-year-old Amitabh Bachchan, the godfather of Indian cinema, acting alongside an unusual hunk-less mix of Indian stars. Critics noted that the film's eight-million-dollar budget, huge by Bollywood standards, bought producers very little in the U.S., giving the film a less-polished look than some of its Indian-made counterparts.
