  • With SUNSET STORY, the filmmakers wanted to humanize the elderly, a vital part of the population that is usually invisible in the media. Did watching the film change your perception of elderly Americans? If so, how?

  • According to the filmmakers, “American society tends to discard/ignore/avoid the elderly—and especially elderly women.” Do you agree with this assessment? Why or why not?

  • In her 80s, Irja Lloyd said: “I was a teenager during the big Depression… and I used to march then… that was 57 years ago… and I am still marching for the same things!” What do you think might be some advantages of remaining politically active in old age?
