- A former student of Albert Cullum’s, David Pugh later became a teacher himself. He says: “A major battle has to go on in our public school system if we’re going to rescue millions of kids from miseducation or [we will] drive them out of school altogether.” What do you think would need to occur in such a “major battle”?
- According to A TOUCH OF GREATNESS producer Catherine Gund, arts education not only provides the opportunity for children to express themselves, but also teaches them “strategies for living meaningful lives.” Do you agree or disagree? Why?
- In talking about how Albert Cullum was not a typical teacher, former student Steve Lawson asked: “How many ten-year-olds were dying to go to school everyday?” Did you ever have a “great teacher” who provided influence and inspiration? If so, who was it and how did they make a difference in your life?
