A confidential informant for the South Central Texas Narcotics Task Force, who was responsible for the sweeps, later admitted in court that he had fabricated evidence. The American Civil Liberties Union filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of the defendants, charging racial discrimination.<br /><br />John Paschall, the task force&#8217;s former project director, has been accused of not only being behind the illegal sweeps, but also using county funds improperly.   <div />';

One of the informants received more than $210,000 from the Police Department for his work in the arrests.<br /><br />Former Dallas Police Officer Mark Delapaz was found guilty for tampering with evidence in 2005 and began serving prison time in May 2008. As of November 2008, none of the other officers involved have been sentenced.  <div />';
