Founded in 1978 to support families in the stressed community of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, the Center also functions as one of the strongest forces in the lives of the Jacob family in WHY CAN'T WE BE A FAMILY AGAIN? by providing support, counseling, role models and recreational activities. A Brooklyn Family Tale: Center for Family Life
In 2002, the filmmakers of WHY CAN'T WE BE A FAMILY AGAIN? created A Brooklyn Family Tale, a documentary about the Center for Family Life. The Web site for this PBS film follows the members of a family who turned to the Center as an alternative to the streets and includes educational resources for social work practitioners and child and family service agencies.
