  • WHY CAN'T WE BE A FAMILY AGAIN? follows the members of the Jacob family for three years. Do you feel that Raymond, Danny, Erslena and Kitten changed over the course of the film? If so, in what ways?

  • While Raymond and Danny yearn for their mother to recover from drug addiction so that they can "be a family again," they have also created another definition of family, with their grandmother and with other relatives. What defines a family? Do you think the definition of "family" has changed, and if so, how?

  • One of the greatest sources of support for the Jacob family has been a local organization called the Center for Family Life. How do you think social service organizations can help families today–and what role do you think they will play in the future?
