Journey to Planet Earth has teamed with the American Association
for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to develop an educational outreach
campaign called
Citizens For Planet
Earth.
It's an exciting way for families and individuals to better understand and improve
their local environment!
This initiative, funded in part by the National Science Foundation,
is an integral part of the PBS series Journey to Planet Earth.
It’s a learning adventure that provides hands-on environmental
projects that will help you understand important national and
regional scientific issues by conducting scientific investigations
of your own environment. Online surveys and interactive databases,
located at www.tryscience.org,
allow you to evaluate environmental quality near your home,
school or local science center.
Citizens for Planet Earth engages participants in a structured,
scientific process by observing the world around them. Through
this process, you can see how scientists collect and analyze
data to learn more about the scientific process.
Most importantly, Citizens for Planet Earth will help people
understand the environment in their own communities and empower
individuals to take an active role in understanding the state of
their environment.
