Djimon Hounsou
Djimon Hounsou first gained acting attention in Amistad. At age 13, the West Africa native moved with his family to France. He left school, couldn't find a job and ended up homeless. He was eventually discovered by a fashion designer and became a model. Hounsou later moved to L.A. to try acting. He found increasingly steady employment in TV and on the big screen, including a recurring role on the hit drama ER and appearances in films such as Gladiator. Hounsou is next up in the futuristic action thriller, The Island.
