RNC chair Ed Gillespie speculates on the upcoming campaign. Afeni Shakur and Jasmine Guy share thoughts on the inspiration for their new book release.
Afeni Shakur
Thirty-three years ago, Afeni Shakur was a defendant in a bomb conspiracy trial. Today, she is the CEO of Amaru Entertainment and founder of the Shakur Family Foundation. After the death of her son, rap superstar Tupac, she was determined to finish the work he couldn't. The new biography, Evolution of a Revolutionary, charts Shakur's interesting journey.
Ed Gillespie
Ed Gillespie rose from U.S. Senate parking lot attendant to power broker. He got his break orchestrating Rep. Dick Armey's rise to power and was one of the architects of the GOP "Contract with America." Before becoming RNC chair, he partnered with Jack Quinn, former Clinton White House counsel, to start a bipartisan public affairs firm that ranked as one of the top 10 most influential firms in D.C.
Jasmine Guy
A former dancer with the Alvin Ailey dance theater, Jasmine Guy earned TV stardom on the sitcom, A Different World. She moved on to other notable big and small screen roles and to Broadway. Guy and slain rapper Tupac Shakur were friends, and she remains close to his mother. This year, she added 'author' to her résumé with the book, Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary. Guy can be seen in Showtime's drama, Dead Like Me.
