Chicago native Kanye West is one of rap's top producers. Not one to stay in the background, he recently released his debut disc, The College Dropout. Since the third grade, West dreamed of writing and rhyming. That dream was almost derailed by a near-fatal car accident, which inspired his current hit single, Through the Wire -- recorded while his jaw was wired shut.
