Kevin Smith is one of the unique voices to emerge during the American indie renaissance of the '90s. He was the idol of aspiring filmmakers when he hit the big time with his feature Clerks, which he financed by selling his comic book collection. With friend and producer Scott Mosier, Smith formed View Askew Productions and wrote and directed such cutting edge movies as Mallrats and Chasing Amy. The New Jersey native also co-exec produced the Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting. Clerks II is due for release this month.
