Memphis police chief James Bolden reflects on the changes in the department since Dr. King's assassination. Edward James Olmos discusses his PBS series, American Family.
James Bolden
Director James Bolden joined the Memphis Police Department in 1968, months after Dr. King's assassination. As a commander in the early 90s, he encouraged a sense of community between police and residents. Bolden also designed the model for the first Business and Police Watch of Memphis, which helped business owners stay aware of crime patterns. He became department head in 2003.
Edward James Olmos
His role on Miami Vice made Edward James Olmos a household name, but he began his career as a rock singer. Throughout the 70s, he split his time between music gigs, bit parts in TV and plays. A starring role in Zoot Suit, in 1978, was his career break. Olmos' acting has received Tony and Oscar nods. He stars in the PBS series, American Family, and devotes much of his time to political and humanitarian causes.
