Journalist Gwen Ifill offers her insight on the current political climate. Musician Flea discusses his passion for music.
Gwen Ifill
Veteran journalist Gwen Ifill is the moderator and managing editor of PBS' Washington Week and senior correspondent on NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. She was previously an NBC News correspondent, reporting on political issues and national trends, and has covered national and local politics for several newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post. A native of New York, Ifill serves on the boards of the Harvard Institute of Politics and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Flea
Bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea is a natural talent who played trumpet as a kid. Born in Australia, he ended up in L.A as a teen, and often sat in on weekly jam sessions with his stepdad. Flea's influences were funk, jazz, rock and soul musicians. He also has a side career in feature films. He co-founded the L.A.'s Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which provides affordable music lessons.
