Carl Reiner once said he wasn't quite good enough as a scholar to fulfill his father's ambition and become a doctor. He did become a one-man band - comedian, actor, director, producer and novelist. He created The Dick Van Dyke Show, which became one of the most famous sitcoms in TV history. In 1999, the Emmy winner was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. Reiner has also spent a great deal of time as an activist and in charitable work.
