Columnist Leonard Pitts shares how winning the Pulitzer gave him a feeling of validation and Guy Pearce recounts the juggling required to star in and sing on the soundtrack of his new film.
Leonard Pitts Jr.
In '04, nationally syndicated columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. He was awarded for his 'vibrant columns that spoke, with both passion and compassion, to ordinary people on often divisive issues.' Born and raised in Southern California, Pitts started at The Miami Herald as a pop music critic and later began writing about pop culture, social issues and family life in his own column. His book, Becoming Dad: Black Men and the Journey to Fatherhood, was a best-seller.
Guy Pearce
Guy Pearce developed his talent from an early age, with TV, theatre and film roles in his native Australia. His four-year stint on a popular Aussie soap made him a teen idol. Pearce's film breakthrough came with his role as a drag queen in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He also has a passion for music. He plays the guitar, saxophone and piano, and has written hundreds of songs. Pearce is next up in the independent feature, A Slipping Down Life.
