Actor, WWII vet and Purple Heart recipient James Garner gives his views on war, and Nip/Tuck actress Joely Richardson discusses how her TV show pushes the envelope. (r)
James Garner
Some years back, People christened James Garner the "last real man." He's maintained a presence in movies and on television for 50 years. It was the TV series Maverick that brought him recognition, and he struck gold with The Rockford Files, for which he won an Emmy. It's been said he shines in any medium and loses none of his sparkle with age. Garner will next be seen in the feature film, The Notebook.
Joely Richardson
Acting is in Joely Richardson's genes. A member of the Redgrave/Richardson clan, she was a tomboy as a child and planned a career in gymastics. She grew too fast, and the plan changed. In the 80s, film became her life - from BBC dramas and theater, to feature films and American TV. British born, she considers herself an honorary American, since she attended school in the U.S. Richardson stars in the FX hit series, Nip/Tuck.
