Tennis star Venus Williams reflects on her father's impact and balancing tennis with her other ventures. Actress Kate Bosworth discusses the journey to her latest role in the Bobby Darin biopic, Beyond The Sea.
Venus Williams
Venus Williams was groomed from birth to be a champion tennis player. At age 4, she was hitting balls on public courts in Compton, CA. At 14, she won her first pro match. With her speed and strength, Williams is a dominant athlete in a sport that hadn't seen an African American female do what she's done. She's captured the attention of children who once dismissed tennis as a chosen sport. Williams also has a background in interior and fashion design and owns V Starr Interiors - the firm that designed the Tavis Smiley show set.
Kate Bosworth
Actress Kate Bosworth has had career success at any early age. At age 14, with little experience, she won her first film role in The Horse Whisperer. By 19, she had five features under her belt, including Remember the Titans and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. Beyond the Sea is her latest film. Bosworth was a straight 'A' student in high school, and Princeton deferred her enrollment while she pursued her film career. A champion equestrian, she volunteers in a program that helps physically challenged children learn to ride horses.
