After the assassination of her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Coretta Scott King refused to retire from public life. Instead, she's traveled the world carrying the message of nonviolence. A leader in the civil rights movement, she's the first woman to deliver the class day address at Harvard and preach at a statutory service at London's St. Paul's Cathedral. She's the founding president of The King Center where she directed the creation of the largest archive of documents from the movement. Mrs. King has earned numerous awards for her commitment to activism.
