Daryl Hall & John Oates are often called the kings of blue-eyed soul. According to Billboard, they're the best selling duo of all time. Raised in the Philadelphia suburbs, Oates played guitar at age 8; Hall studied voice and piano as a child. In their teens, the two joined doo-wop groups and met during a competition. They teamed with the 'Philly sound' masters, Gamble and Huff, and had success with such hits as 'Sara Smile' and 'I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)" - which spent a week atop the R&B charts. 'Our Kind of Soul' is their new CD.
