Rep. Joe Barton has represented Texas' 6th congressional district since '85. He serves on the Science Committee and chairs the Energy and Commerce Committee, the oldest standing legislative House committee. Indeed, the Wall Street Journal called him the 'House GOP's leading expert on energy policy." A Waco, TX native, Barton was a White House Fellow in '81. He consulted for a natural gas company before his election to Congress. He's also the founding co-chairman of Asthma Awareness Day on Capitol Hill.
