Yvon Chouinard, CEO of the inspirational clothing goods company Patagonia, expresses his concern for the planet's future. Grammy-winning singer Faith Evans reflects on her new start.
Yvon Chouinard
Yvon Chouinard is a surfer, fly fisher and world-class mountaineer. He's also founder of Patagonia, Inc., an outdoor clothing company that he built into a $230 million company without taking it public. On the premise that green business is good business, he devotes 1% of annual sales to grassroots environmental organizations. Chouinard is also a noted writer, on climbing issues and ethics and, in Let My People Go Surfing, relates his core philosophies that are simultaneously common sense and radical.
Faith Evans
Before becoming the first woman signed to P. Diddy's Bad Boy label, Grammy-winning singer Faith Evans wrote songs and was a session artist. Her breakthrough came in '95 with her hit self-titled CD. From age 2, Evans trained her voice in Gospel choirs. She was an honor student and won a scholarship to Fordham University, but left to take a stab at a music career. Released this year, 'The First Lady' commemorates her 10th anniversary in the industry. Evans also heads her own production company, Pedigree MGI.
