Beirut-based British journalist Robert Fisk is Middle East correspondent for London's The Independent. Having lived in the Middle East for almost three decades, he's one of the few Western journalists who has interviewed Osama bin Laden - three times. Fisk has a reputation as a critical journalist and has written about being the target of hate mail and death threats from Americans as a result of his reporting of U.S. and Israeli policy in the Middle East. His most recent book is The Great War for Civilisation.
