Former Nixon Counsel John Dean weighs in on the growing storm over the White House role in administration leaks. Award-winning columnist Carl Hiaasen talks about his book - the basis for the new film Hoot.
John Dean
Many remember former presidential counsel John Dean as a central figure in the Watergate scandal and the chief whistleblower that helped bring down the Nixon presidency. A lecturer and writer, he's chronicled his White House years in several best sellers. Dean is an outspoken critic of the current Bush administration and has taken it to task in his books, Conservatives Without Conscience, Worse Than Watergate and, his latest, Broken Government. He's also written a screenplay, Pentagon Papers.
Carl Hiaasen
Journalist Carl Hiaasen can add film producer to his diverse résumé. The award-winning columnist co-produced Hoot, a film based on his first children's book. A native of Florida, Hiaasen has spent 30 years with The Miami Herald, where his investigative pieces have exposed several local scandals. He's also written many best-selling novels, which have been published in 29 languages, and released two collections of his columns. A Warren Zevon fan, Hiassen co-wrote two songs for the CD 'Basket Case.'
