New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Nicholas Kristof discusses the crisis in Darfur. Singer-songwriter Jewel performs a song from her new CD, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland."

An Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, Nicholas Kristof's pieces have focused attention on human rights abuses in Asia and Africa. He joined the paper in '84, covering economics, and has served as bureau chief in Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo. Kristoff is a Harvard grad and Rhodes Scholar, has lived on four continents, traveled to more than 140 countries and written several books. He's won Pulitzers for journalism and for commentary. He's also a pioneer in multimedia and was the first blogger on the NYT Web site.
Jewel
Since her first pop hit in '96, Jewel has sold some 30 million albums. The multi-dimensional artist has been featured on Time's cover—a distinction given to few musicians—and her debut poetry collection topped The New York Times' best-seller list. She began her music career at age 6, performing with her parents in Alaska, and released her first CD at age 20. A country music fan since childhood, Jewel recently completed her first country album, "Perfectly Clear," which includes songs she wrote as a teen.
